Welcome!

This is the District 9 Art Blog. We wanted to be better connected and have a place to share lessons, hopefully this will fill that void. Feel free to introduce yourself or just say hi.

  2. The District 9 art show went really well. We had 407 pieces entered which is amazing. What a great second year response. This year the workshops were Nevr-Dull, Blown ink, and still life drawing, we had prizes for the best one of each workshop (elephant poop bags) plus art supplies. We've already thought out changes for next year. We would like to have the competition in the Commons Area where student's will set up their artwork look around, then go to the workshop during the judging. The judges will then go through and pick their favs of each category, those pieces will be pulled and placed in a separate room (about 30 to 45 minutes later) The judges will then critique the artwork, write comments and decide 1st, 2nd and 3rd. But while they are critiquing and placing the categories, parents can then look at the other artwork. Which I think this year was the biggest complaint. Another thing that I think we will change is next year we will have burgers and dogs on the grill instead of chili. If you have any suggestions we are opened to any ideas. We want to be a great experience as well as benefitial to the student's.
